Our Mission

ACCORDING TO SACRED SCRIPTURE

Jesus approached and said to them, "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."     Mt 28:19-20

They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers.     Acts 2:42

ACCORDING TO THE CATECHISM

Those who with God's help have welcomed Christ's call and freely responded to it are urged on by the love of Christ to proclaim the Good News everywhere in the world. . . . All Christ's faithful are called to hand it on . . . by professing the faith, by living it in fraternal sharing, and by celebrating it in liturgy and prayer.     Catechism of the Catholic Church 3

ACCORDING TO THE CODE OF CANON LAW

The Christian faithful are those who, inasmuch as they have been incorporated in Christ through baptism, have been constituted as the people of God. For this reason, made sharers in their own way in Christ's priestly, prophetic, and royal function, they are called to exercise the mission which God has entrusted to the Church to fulfill in the world, in accord with the condition proper to each.     Can. 204 §1

A parish is a certain community of the Christian faithful stably constituted in a particular church, whose pastoral care is entrusted to a pastor as its proper shepherd under the authority of the diocesan bishop.     Can. 515 §1

The pastor is the proper shepherd of the parish entrusted to him, exercising the pastoral care of the community committed to him under the authority of the diocesan bishop in whose ministry of Christ he has been called to share, so that for that same community he carries out the functions of teaching, sanctifying, and governing, also with the cooperation of other presbyters or deacons and with the assistance of lay members of the Christian faithful.     Can. 519
