PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING

October 24, 2019

On October 24, 2019 the Pastoral Council meeting was held in the parish rectory.

Opening Prayer:  Fr. Bill led the council in an opening prayer.

Following council members were in attendance: Fr. Bill, Larry Pemberton, Bernie Gately, Oscar Velasquez, Freddie Andrade, Kit Wallace, Richard Gill, Sr., Shonnie Montoro, martin Alordzinu, Lindal DeBroux.

Review/approval of minutes:  Council members reviewed and approved minutes from the August 29, 2019 Pastoral Council Meeting.

Larry welcomed two new members, Linda DeBroux and JoAnne Johnson, to the Parish Council.

Pastor’s Remarks: Fr. Bill stated the remodeling/repair project was within budget and on schedule for completion prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.  After observing people attending Masses that stand along the back wall of the sanctuary and occasionally place their fee against lean against these back wall (thereby damaging the wall finish). Fr. Bill intends to investigate some form of a box planter or other barrier to prevent a person from leaning on these back walls.  The current Liturgy Room (across the hall from the church offices) will receive new carpeting and in the future will be used for multiple purposes/host various meetings & groups as required.  The church will retain the new chairs used in the sanctuary for Masses during the construction period and going forward will use these chairs for meetings in the Fr. Creedon room and other meeting rooms throughout the church.  Any excess chairs will be sold.

Volunteer Appreciation Event:  The council discussed pans for this event.  The intent of this event is to recognize the contributions of all volunteers to each of the parish ministries and programs.  This event is schedule for April 26, 2020, late afternoon/early evening in the gym.  It will include an entertainment program such as a performance by the Holy Family School choir and other groups as appropriate and serve heavy appetizers to those attending.  The leader for each church ministry/program will be asked to provide a short talk that highlight the important accomplishments over the past year and recognize a specific volunteer for their contributions.

Scheduled Events before Next Meeting:

All Saints/November 1, 2019: Oct 31 Vigil Mass in the church gym (Spanish); Nov 01 7:00AM Mass in the Fr. Creedon Room, 9:00AM Mass in the gym; 7:30PM Mass in the Nave (Knights of Columbus volunteers to set up chairs).

Simbang Gabi Mass/December 18 2019; 7:30PM (Shonnie Montoro is coordinating planning for this event).

Next Meeting: December 19, 2019 7:00-9:00PM in the rectory.
