ABOUT US
Formed in 1903, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) is one of the oldest and largest organizations of Catholic women in the Americas. We are a national organization, with 63,000 dues-paying members in 1,150 courts (local chapters) in 45 states across the country and in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
We provide local spirituality, sharing and activity under the support of a vibrant national organization. Members donate to charities, administer scholarship programs and strive “to be helping hands where there is pain, poverty, sorrow or sickness.” They embrace the principle of faith working through love in the promotion of justice, equality and the advancement of human rights and human dignity for all.
Our Motto is “Unity and Charity.” Court Immaculate Conception was instituted on 30 April 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church. We currently have 27 members, women from diverse backgrounds who have answered our Lord’s call with faith, generosity and love. Some examples of our works include:
- Ran the Box of Joy campaign for Holy Family in 2024 and collected 285 boxes. Box of Joy gifts are Christmas gifts sent to children in developing countries like Haiti, Malawi and the Dominican Republic. Filled with toys, clothing, school supplies, a rosary and The Story of Jesus, these gifts represent Christ’s love.
- Supported the Annual Giving Tree/Mural project that provides Target or Walmart gift cards to children who otherwise would not receive gifts at Christmas.
- Heavily supported Holy Family’s Bible Study both with administrative support and attendance.
- Served as a sponsor and provided support for the Annual Holy Family Fun Festival to include the donation of a dunk tank, serving as volunteers and marketing for the event on social media.
- Hosted a first-ever mother/daughter tea party for the church in May that now serves as our annual fundraiser and signature event.
- Hosted a first-ever Priest Appreciation Day reception for Holy Family’s priests and deacons in June.
- Supported “White Ribbon Against Pornography” week in October for the last two years. This important campaign distributes prayer cards with white ribbons to increase public awareness of the harm done by exposure to pornography.
WHY JOIN?
Does the prospect of a deep merging of spirituality and service resonate within your heart?
Maybe you’d like to take a more active role in our parish, community, city or town but aren’t sure exactly how to do it?
What about sharing “woman time” with other Catholic women: at CDA meetings, within your parish, during Mass and in shared activity helping others?
If you answered “yes” to any of the above, joining the Catholic Daughters of the Americas might be the thing for you to do. Being a Catholic Daughter is a wonderful gift from God. Through CDA you are able to share your talents and gifts and work with other Catholic women who share faith and similar values. We need you!
