Biography of Reverend David Witherow, Parochial Vicar of Holy Family
Father David was born in 1993 in Warrenton, Virginia. He is the fourth of eight children, all boys except for the youngest. He was raised Presbyterian until his family converted to Catholicism in 2004. He and his brothers began altar serving soon after at their home parish of Holy Trinity. Father David and his siblings were all homeschooled. Throughout highschool, Father David continued regularly attending Sunday Mass, making monthly use of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and began to make private trips to the adoration chapel at Holy Trinity.
Father David attended Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas where he studied Theology. After completing his degree in the Spring of 2014, he settled down in Kansas and began work at the Newman Center at Wichita State University. After several years at the Newman Center, Father David went on a retreat for those discerning the priesthood. After a conversation with a priest, Father David decided that it was time to answer the call which had followed him in prayer for several years.
Father David left his job in Wichita, returning to his home diocese of Arlington, beginning studies for the priesthood at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in the Fall of 2016. After completing his formation for the priesthood, Father David was ordained by Bishop Burbidge at his home parish of Holy Trinity on June 3rd, 2023. Father David is very happy to be assigned to Holy Family and asks for your prayers that he might be an effective instrument of God’s grace.
