Plenary Indulgence
Our Holy Father Pope Francis has granted the favor of a plenary indulgence on the occasion of our Diocesan Golden Jubilee. The indulgence is granted to any member of the faithful who “visit the Cathedral Church of Saint Thomas More on pilgrimage and there devoutly attend the sacred Jubilee celebrations, or at least for a suitable period of time offer prayers to God for the fidelity of the United States of America to its Christian calling, for the obtaining of priestly and religious vocations and for the institution of the human family to be defended.” The individual is to conclude these prayers with the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed, and prayers to the
Blessed Virgin Mary.
Individuals are also required to fulfill the usual conditions for an indulgence namely, the reception of Holy Communion, Sacramental Confession, and to offer prayers for the intentions of our Holy Father. The favor of the indulgence is in effect through the end of this calendar year. The plenary indulgence is also granted to individuals who visit Burke Hall on the lower level of the Cathedral as the renovations in the upper Church continue.

El Santo Padre Francisco ha concedido una indulgencia plenaria por motivo del Aniversario de jubileo de oro de nuestra Diocesís. Se le concede a todo fiel “si visitan en peregrinación la Iglesia Catedral de Santo Tomás Moro y
asisten allí devotamente a las sagradas celebraciones jubilares, ó al menos durante un tiempo adecuado, ofrecen oraciones a Dios por la fidelidad de los Estados Unidos de América a su vocación cristiana, por la obtención de
vocaciones sacerdotales y religiosas y para que se defienda la institución de la familia humana.” La persona debe con concluir estas oraciones con el rezo del Padrenuestro, El Credo, y las oraciones a la Santisima Virgen Maria.
Las personas deben de cumplir con los requisitos usuales para una indugencia que son: la recepcion digna de la Sagrada Comunión, la Confesión sacramental, y las oraciones ofrecidas para el Santo Padre. El favor del la indulgencia estara en efecto el año entero. La indulgencia plenaria se le concede a aquellos que visitan el sotano (Burke Hall) de la Catedral mientras que la Catedral continua bajo construccion.
